“Santa Claus Is Back in Town” is a Christmas song written in 1957 by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, and first recorded that year by Elvis Presley as the opening track on Elvis’ Christmas Album, the best-selling Christmas/holiday album of all time in the United States. The song has become a rock and roll Christmas standard.

Our version is based on Kurt Russell’s performance in The Christmas Chronicles, which is a 2018 American Christmas comedy film. The film features Santa Claus Is Back in Town, performed by Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, with actor Kurt Russell on lead vocals. In the film, the song is performed by Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) during a scene set at the jailhouse.
